Day 49 - Lancaster

I am using Day 49 and maybe the next few days to post pictures from a few different places mentioned in my last post. Today, I will focus on Amish country in Lancaster PA.

Driving through rural Lancaster can be strange. You see a contrast in culture that is hard to find most other places in this country. It is one of the few places where you can see a Mercedes go flying around a horse drawn carriage. You can see someone mowing their lawn with a donkey pulling a trailer with blades on it. You see Amish women wielding gas powered weed whackers in the middle of a gigantic field. Almost none of them seem to have heard of shoes. It can genuinely feel like you are driving a car through the late 19th century at times. Yet only five minutes away is the city, full of cars, lights, sidewalks, tech stores, ethnic cuisine, all the fixtures of a modern city.

So I was glad that I was able to get a few glimpses of this world to share here. I hope you enjoy them.

Loved this scenic lane back to a farm.

A child playing on the farm.

No corn is safe.

A big smile.

Lawn mowing old school.

That's gonna take a while.

He was making a turn signal.

The bike, perhaps the most modern form of transportation you'll see.
