Yeah, it’s been a while.
I noticed I haven’t written much of my own for quite some time here. Well, here’s the deal.
I recently made a trip to Denver, Colorado, and it blew my mind.
Everything there is so much better than anything I’ve experienced in Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania is a total shithole. I’m serious. Anyone who is reading this, your number one priority should be moving. Out of this state. Now.
It is awakening to spend time in a city where people are open to pretty much anything. I was in Denver for 5 days, and found, at a minimum, 10 places I could gig at regularly.
In Pennsylvania, there are about, ZERO, places that are willing to book jazz, or for that matter, REAL MUSIC.
I guess it’s great if you love shitty cover bands, and if that’s your thing I’m sorry. Please, feel free to stay in Pennsylvania.
I spent a lot of time in Boston, and to be fair, it was basically a lot like Denver, culturally. I could get gigs in the snap of a finger. The plus for Denver is the scenery. Seriously, everywhere you look is a Bob Ross painting.
So, in conclusion:
A REAL arts scene + Amazing people + THE BEST FOOD + Scenery = a seriously great place to live.
Pennsylvania, yet again, proves to be the 40th best state in the union. It trails only the south.
