AT&T changes their mind on iPhone upgrades
After they already announced one set of rules, AT&T is now announcing that tomorrow, they will let you check if you qualify for discount pricing two days from now.
Stay with me…
The way I’m reading this, tomorrow you will be able to use AT&T’s upgrade website to see if you qualify for the fully-subsidized price on an iPhone 3G S. The general rule is that if the site today says you’ll be eligible in July, August, or September, tomorrow it will say you’re eligible this Friday. If you’ve already pre-ordered, either AT&T or Apple will provide a refund.
So, wait until tomorrow. Regardless of what the website says then, you should probably call AT&T and double-check. With some luck, you’ll be able to get a 16 GB iPhone 3G S on Friday. God you speed.
This is all well and good, but apparently people who are upgrade eligible in July who did not buy the iPhone 3G, still have to wait. Stupid. I think people should be more concerned about the fact that ATT still have yet to address their lack of support for basic things like MMS and Tethering, things that y nearly 2 year old RAZR has been able to do since I’ve had it. And it’s a 3G phone too.
